Bars (noun)- a measures of music, specifically when referring to lines of lyrics
As a hip-hop enthusiast, I see "bars" as more than just lyrics—they are the foundation of storytelling, holding up the weight of an artist’s ideas, memories, and metaphors. I've spent much of my life crafting bars, much like the image above, piecing together lines that reimagine moments from the past, one verse at a time. Writing bars is both an art and a science, requiring the perfect balance of cadence, rhythm, and narrative depth to paint vivid pictures through sound. But beyond technique, the true challenge lies in tapping into vulnerability—facing fears, insecurities, and distant memories. Songwriting is more than just creating—it’s an emotional release, a purge of raw truth. And in that space of honesty and self-reflection, the best bars are born.
