A note from my book of rhymes, circa 2016.
I love music. I love its vibe, rhythm, lyrics, soul, and ability to transport me to places I know and venues I've never been to. I started writing song lyrics in the 4th grade, mirroring my rap heroes the best way I could as a kid from middle-class America, far removed from the stories of urban lore that permeated my headphones. Still, the beats and the words resonated with me, and soon, writing lyrics became my primary form of stress relief, although I kept it hidden from most people in my life. Music became my refuge and uncensored voice that translated the fears and fortunes within me into verses that became the soundtrack to my life, which still plays to this day.
