Musicology

“Progressive art can assist people to learn not only about the objective forces at work in the society in which they live, but also about the intensity social character of their interior lives. Ultimately, it can propel people toward social emancipation.”

A note from my book of rhymes, circa 2016.
I love music. I love its vibe, rhythm, lyrics, and soul—its ability to transport me to places both familiar and unknown, to venues I’ve never stepped foot in yet somehow feel like home. Music is more than sound; it’s an experience, a universal language that speaks to the deepest parts of who we are. My journey with music began in the fourth grade, when I first started writing song lyrics, attempting to mirror the artistry of my rap heroes. As a kid growing up in middle-class America, far removed from the gritty realities that shaped many of their stories, I found myself captivated by the raw emotion, poetic delivery, and storytelling power embedded in their verses. Though our worlds were different, the beats and the words resonated deeply, offering me a creative outlet to express emotions I didn’t always have the language for.

What started as imitation quickly evolved into something more personal. Writing lyrics became my refuge, my form of self-expression, my therapy. I kept it hidden from most people in my life, scribbling rhymes in notebooks and letting my thoughts flow freely in ways I couldn’t always vocalize. Music became an uncensored voice, translating my fears, dreams, and personal experiences into verses that felt like a reflection of my inner world. It was through music that I learned to process life—its highs, lows, and everything in between—and in many ways, that soundtrack is still playing today. Whether through writing, listening, or simply absorbing the magic of a well-crafted song, music remains one of my greatest passions, shaping the way I think, feel, and connect with the world around me.

Albums

Writing is my passion, but making beats is my therapy.  These instrumental albums unfiltered, unmastered, and purposely imperfect.
